NEWS FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR October 31, 2011

Our fall sport teams are finishing their season with a bang. Our football team won
its last game of the year with a 24-0 victory over Hiawatha High School. The offensive
line dominated the game as the Wildcats ran for 380 yards and had over 400 yards
of total offense. Four different Wildcats scored touchdowns, and the defense held
the opponents in check the whole game. Senior linebacker Sean Chapman and junior
defensive lineman NickShores were selected to the NAC (Northeastern Athletic Conference)
All-Conference First Team. Selected honorable mention were seniors Jimmy Cunningham
and James Mazzone, as well as sophomore Jeremy Jensen. The Wildcats finished their
season with a 2-7 record and were much improved over a year ago.

The Wildcat girls’ volleyball team won the Class A IHSA Regional Championship this
past week at Luther North. The team entered the tournament as the number four seed,
but beat number one seed St. Benedict in two games and then polished off number
two seed Josephinum in two games to win their first volleyball regional title since
1996. The team will now play Roycemore in the Sectional Semifinal game Tuesday
at Westminster Christian. Selected to the NAC honorable mention team were seniors
Kayla Bushey and Kaitlyn Stetson.

In cross country, sophomore Tyler Kesner continued the program’s fine tradition
of state qualifiers by advancing to the IHSA State meet by virtue of finishing as
the 7th individual runner in this week’s sectional meet at Lisle. Tyler nabbed the
last qualifying position as he out kicked a number of runners in the last 200m of
the race. Tyler will now get a chance to race against the best runners in Illinois
in Peoria this Saturday. Two weeks earlier, Tyler finished 3rd in the NAC Championship
meet, earning All-Conferences honors.

Basketball season will soon be in full swing with practices scheduled to begin this
week and next. Both girls’ and boys’ teams are looking forward to getting started
on what hopefully will be two successful seasons. The girls’ team will start its
season at the Immaculate Conception Thanksgiving tournament, while the boys’ team
will be involved in the Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Westminster Christian.

Go Wildcats!!!
