When was the last time you saw art that incited personal revelations & political revolutions? For SOMArts’ 16th annual Día de los Muertos exhibition, artists are responding to institutional racism and violence through their work, offering deeply personal dedications to lives lost far too soon. In the past week these artists have been working around the clock to create an elaborate maze of 25+ altars and contemporary art installations, offering our community a space to remember, honor and celebrate the dead.

Meet the 80+ artists at the exhibition unveiling and Día de los Muertos inspired artist market tomorrow, October 9, 6–9pm! The unveiling features spoken word from Denise Benavides and Adrian Arias as well as live music by Loco Bloco, who will present an opening procession with Brazillian Samba, world music, and dance that winds throughout the exhibit. Advance tickets are strongly encouraged, and with sales ending in less than 24 hours, now is your last chance to get them.

See you among the altars!
