We all know that things evolve. People, animals, we all adapt. We make the best of our surroundings. We tend to stick with things that we discover are of benefit to us, while we dump other ideas that have little-to-no impact on our lives. The wheel, for example, has proven pretty important. Google+, on the other hand…where did that go?

Adaptation is a part of life.

It’s a part of being alive.

However, you might not have heard of the term “dysevolution.” I certainly hadn’t until recently, when I stumbled upon an article from Discover magazine. Harvard researcher (and all-around advocate of motion, specifically barefoot running) Daniel Lieberman suggests that modern-day humans are dysevolving, and at a fairly rapid rate. And, as a result, we are now faced with “mismatched” disorders and conditions that our ancestors never dealt with. Things like diabetes, back pain, asthma, and hypertension are all common mismatched disorders that were once unheard of.
You see, we’re designed to move.

The Quick Athlete Workout
This workout, designed by Pete Egoscue, incorporates a series of athletic movements that challenge all of the body’s major muscle groups and facilitate better range of motion, thereby building strength and agility. Quick anaerobic cardio bursts facilitate calorie burn and boost heart rate so that by the end of this 12-minute routine you feel tired yet exhilerated. Watch the video to learn how to do the perfect pushup, burpees, arm circles, and several other multifaceted moves. Carrie’s Recipe 
of The Month

Balsamic Vinaigrette
I started making my own salad dressing a while ago after stopping by my local Trader Joe’s and sampling something fabulous that included their own dressing in the recipe.  I picked up the bottle to see what was in it, and was shocked at the long list of ingredients (thickeners, coloring, sugar, and salt to name a few).  From that point on I made my own dressing using simple ingredients, it is so easy and delicious!  
2 tbsp dijon mustard
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsp honey
1/2 c extra virgin olive oil
Put all ingredients into a carafe and shake well before each use.  Keep refrigerated.If you don’t like balsamic vinegar you can swap it with red or white wine vinegar.  If you need salt add it on top of your salad. Get creative and add fresh minced garlic, ginger, scallions, or chopped fresh herbs for a different flavor.
