Protect Children from Disasters

Friend, Ten years after Hurricane
Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, critical gaps in planning still leave
children at risk in U.S. disasters. Katrina left more than 1,300 people
dead and displaced 1 million people from their homes. Those most
affected were children—the record storm led to 5,000 reports of
children and 370,000 children forced out of school.
When the needs of children were overlooked, you
helped us fill the gaps, and that work continues today. Since
Katrina, Save the Children has served more than 1 million children
affected by U.S. disasters. When crisis strikes, our emergency
responders are on the ground, supporting children’s needs. By
contributing today, you will enable us to rapidly serve children in the
U.S and around the world.
