Kavalan Single Malt Whisky
According to the whisky elite the finest bottles of whisky are not coming from the islands of Scotland, or from the hills of Kentucky, but from the island of Taiwan – seriously. King Car Distillery began feeding malted barley into its pot stills only in 2005, and in that short amount of time they’ve become regarded as one of the finest producers of whisky in the world. Now for 2015 one of their more rare bottlings took home the coveted World Whiskies Awards, ‘World’s Best Single Malt.’ That’s an impressive splash in very big pool folks!

We’ve acquired a few bottles of the first Kavalan to make it here to Colorado and are very excited to share them with you. If you’re a fan of whisky of any sort, then there is something in this bottle that will make your glass happy. Due to the unique climate of Taiwan (read very unlike Scotland) the Kavalan spirits gain a richness and complexity which completely belies their youth. As good as this whisky is we can’t wait to see what trickles out next.

750ml; Limited availability.

Cascade Brewing House of SOUR
With the Great American Beer Festival right around the corner, rare beers are starting to pour into Colorado. One of the brewers we consider most rare is Cascade Brewing out of Portland, Oregon. Smack in the middle of an amazing food and beverage culture, these guys have been turning out barrel aged sour beers since before they were cool. Actually, who are we kidding, they’ve always been cool! Just ask anyone who has ever tasted the tart joy of a Cantillon geuze from Brussels, Belgium. Head brewmaster, Ron Gansberg, got his start in the wine industry but stumbled into beer and never looked back. The northwest is an amazing area for agriculture, and we can’t think of anyone who showcases that better than Cascade Brewing. We’ve only got a case each of these highly rated, world-class beers so get them while you can. Check out more of their story at Cascade Brewing.
