Movie Screening: Soylent Green at the Roxy!
May 5 at 7:30pm • PFS ROXY THEATER • 2023 Sansom Street
Charlton Heston (1973) stars in this dystopian take on the year 2022, where the devastating results of the greenhouse effect and overpopulation have all but ruined the planet. After the CEO of the Soylent Corporation, the company that produces the world’s food supply, is murdered, the source of their protein is called into question.

The screening is followed by a panel discussion (including Jimmy from Greensgrow) on equity in the food system: who gets what, how inequality is illustrated by and perpetuated by the system, plus how various entities are attempting to bring greater equality and access, from sustainable urban farming and local food distribution to science and technology engineering the food we eat.

Presented by Film Lab, a monthly exploration of science through cinema pairing films with relevant specialists for unique and engaging discussions.
Plant of the Week:
Creeping Phlox
Buy three, get one free! This is a terrific evergreen ground cover that comes in white, pink and light blue.  I’m sure you’ve seen it cascading its flowery self all around you. It prefers full sun and good drainage (also known as crummy, dry soil), but it will happily tolerate part shade, too.
