The CSA begins the week of May 21. Day and time depends on the share type and location you choose. Details are on the application. See the schedule here.

Farmer Katelyn Repash is turning out some beautiful organically grown 4 pack seedlings for your garden starts. Lettuces, kale, arugula, mixed greens. Want to know where your food comes from? These guys were grown right here in the seeding room under Katelyn’s watchful eye!

Our order from our friend Cactus Dan has arrived! That means we have a stunning selection of cacti and succulents in the greenhouse right now.  We have thorny and non-thorny selections. Minis and combo pots–sooo cute! Great stuff for terrarium building.

We have lots of ranunculus, pansies and osteospermum daisies this weekend, also pretty pots suitable for cheering up your home.  Massing spring annuals together in pot makes a much bigger impact than sprinkling them all around your yard or garden.

Creeping phlox is a spring classic. Let this evergreen cascade over the edge of a wall or pot or replace your patch of grass with it and forget about mowing! The flowering quince are bursting into bloom this week in the nursery, along with forsythia and early lilacs. We have crimson or pink, double or simple flowers, thorny or thornless. They do well in containers, too! In fact, they are pretty easy to sculpt into a bonsai shape.

Fill in the gaps this year with perennial ground covers. This slideshow is really inspiring and informative!  It begins with hardy geraniums (2015 perennial of the year!) and includes how to cut them back to keep them looking lush most of the year. But it also includes creeping jenny, epimedium, hellebores, sedums, japanese forest grass, & microbiota. We have many of these available in the nursery, plus we can suggest more!

No farmstand this week, but here is some food for thought. . .

Check out this article, A Taste of Organic Farming, about Marolda Family Farm in Vineland, New Jersey. CSA members will recognize the name as we frequently feature Marolda’s beautiful produce in the CSA. Check it out here.
