Happy Spring!
Philly Fixers Guild and Ecycling on Saturday
Repair rather than replace! We are pleased to partner with the Philly Fixers and we invite our community to to bring out your broken stuff, get it fixed while learning how to do simple fixes and troubleshoot. More about the repair fair guidelines and how it works online here. NKCDC is holding an ecycling collection at the corner of Cumberland & Gaul. Find out more about what they will take here.

Get Started in the Garden!
There are a lot of new plants in the nursery this week; spring flowers, herbs, cold hardy vegetable starts like pretty lettuces, collards and cabbage. Keep your eye on night time temperatures, if you are putting out starts make sure to cover them if it’s below freezing.

Have You Missed Mary’s Rants & Raves?
Our fearless leader reflects in her blog post this week about the true meaning of a CSA. Check it out on the blog.
Backyard Chickens Workshop & Chicks for Sale!
We are offering a Backyard Chicken Workshop with aviary expert Marianne Morrison on April 11 for those of you interested in starting your own flock. Register here. If you are interested in buying chicks for your backyard flock, we’re offering 5 breeds this year chosen by Marianne for their suitability to our climate, temperament and quality. You can order on the website here. Orders must be place by March 27.
Herbs, cold crop starts and spring bloomers are in!
Herbs are here; cilantro, mint, parsley, sage, oregano and more. A few cold hardy veggie starts are in including kale, spinach, lettuce, collards, chard, celery, and cabbage.

TIP: Repel pests in the garden by planting onions and garlic. Seeds and plants are not the only way to grow, onion sets are the easiest way to grow onions. They don’t take up much room, and they may help repel pests. Ever grown the “stinking rose”?  Another easy crop that can repel pests. Find it in the greenhouse this weekend.

Cheerful spring flowers like primrose, pansies, ranunculus are here. Find flowering quince, lilacs, willows and more in the nursery this weekend.

Get your pick of our new selection of ceramic containers this weekend at the nursery!  Invest in a beautiful pot where you’ll see it often.  As long as they always have good drainage, they’ll last for many, many years. Maybe some of your pots didn’t make it through the winter? Now is a great time to replace them. And to ensure they last a long time, prop them up on pot “feet” or bricks and only use soil-less potting mix (perhaps with a little compost mixed in) to keep them draining well all-year long.

No farmstand this week but the fridges and pantry are stocked with local cheeses, dairy and humanely-raised meats. There will be Greensgrow greens for sale too!
