Arts Funding Cut by the House – VC Needs Your Support

Last Thursday, the US House of Representative approved an amendment to cut $40 million
in funding to the National Endowment (NEA) for the Arts in the 2011 budget. The
NEA has not seen this kind of deep cut in 16 years.

For the 2012 fiscal year, President Obama has proposed a 13% budget cut to both
the NEA and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

These cuts spell trouble for small arts organizations, like us. Visual Communications
receive significant support from the NEA to present the annual Los Angeles Asian
Pacific Film Festival, and the NEH has given us grants to support our important
media archival work, saving the stories of Asian Pacific Americans on film and
video.

With these deep cuts to the arts and humanities, VC is at risk of losing $20,000
in funding to our annual budget.
