Our new sister restaurant, Osteria Mazzantini, is hosting its first wine dinner on Monday, October 7 at 7 p.m. featuring the wines of Bruno Rocca Azienda Agricola Rabaja.
Luisa Rocca will be in attendance to speak about the wines alongside Mazzantini’s Sommelier Samantha Porter. Bruno Rocca is known for producing wines on the forefront of quality and elegance in Italy’s noteworthy Barbaresco.
After taking over a small seven hectare farm in 1978, softer and more readily drinkable wines have the focus of style and production. Most of the vines reside in Rabaja, one of the premier vineyards in Barbaresco, as well as Nieve, Treiso, and Asti for the growth of Chardonnay and Barbera. By directing his attention to technological advancements in viticulture and winemaking, Rocca is considered a modernists and a pioneer. Extensive experimentation with the use of French Oak has led to a well-balanced, aromatic selection of wines that truly outshine other vineyards in the area. Exemplifying the idea of a small, family-operated vineyard, daughter and son Luisa & Francesco Rocca have now taken over management. However Bruno’s presence in the production is still prominent and he can be found amongst the now 15 hectares of vines daily.
