Brand New Barleywines
From Stone & Firestone

Firestone Walker and Stone Brewing have released their barleywines just in time
for those lingering winter nights. Classified as a strong ale, barleywines achieved
their name due to their complexity and higher alcohol content which often reaches
levels comparable to many wines.

Our three current offerings vary stylistically. While Firestone Walker’s barrel
aged Sucaba offers aromatics and palate characteristics reminiscent of dark chocolate,
vanilla, and tobacco, Stone Brewing’s Old Guardian attempts to balance the decadent
maltiness with a pronounced level of hops. Lastly, Stone has delivered their “Odd
Year Release,” a variation on the Old Guardian that relies on a German, oak-smoked
malt to further enhance the beer’s depth and complexity.

Swing in today and pick up a couple for the cellar and one or two to enjoy sipping
by the fire.

Wine & Cheese Special
15% off each
The Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan Riesling 2011 Trocken is a young and vibrant dry Riesling
with pear and apple notes on the nose and a supple, smooth texture. Great acidity
and minerality keep the wine in balance and make it a great pairing for this cheddar.
The Bleumont Dairy Bandaged Cheddar is a very complex and creamy cheddar without
a harsh sharpness. Made in Wisconsin but run by Willi Lehner who comes from a Swiss
cheese-making family, this cheese is a departure from typical domestic Cheddar.
Nutty with a beautiful caramel note and creamy finish, this is a great cheese on
its own. The Riesling will match very well and you could even go for a Riesling
with a little sweetness to it.
