Saturday Members Appreciation: Raft the North Fork of the American River (Class 4) The North Fork is back on and the best season for this fork can be short, so take advantage of these amazing runs before it's too late! The North Fork is a class 4 California classic! Members appreciation pricing is only $60! Saturday: Beginner Rock Climbing at Castle Rock State Park Come rock climbing on Saturday! This trip is perfect for first time climbers and people who have only climbed indoors. Join us and have some serious fun! Sunday: Beyond Basics Rock Climbing at Castle Rock State Park If you have climbed with us before and/or you can tie in a belay, you are ready for this trip! We provide professional guides who can give you helpful tips and pointers; plus all the climbing gear necessary for the day. With the OAC, this is an all day trip! You'll get a lot of climbing in! Hike Peters Creek Loop in Portola Redwoods State Park You don't want to miss out on this gem in the South Bay! We will be hiking down into a secluded paradise of redwoods and creeks, serve up a delicious lunch, and burn it off on the way out. This is an OAC favorite! Featured Trip of the Week Rock Climber's Gear and Anchor Class June 17 and/or July 15 Join us in Berkeley for a full day of learning, anchor building, and fun! This amazing class will greatly improve your ability to create and/or identify safe anchors. Outdoor Adventure Club guides will give you hands-on instruction on how to build a solid top rope anchor. If you are building your own anchors, or climbing on someone else's, you owe it to yourself to obtain a thorough knowledge of what is safe and what is clearly not. Our class takes place outdoors in Berkeley at Cragmont Park and is designed to provide both hands-on and classroom style learning. All the necessary gear will be provided. Previous climbing experience and familiarity with belay techniques is highly recommended. Two Second Tip of the Week: When you are away from the tent during the day and there is no precipitation in the forecast, leave all of the windows unzipped so the air will continue to circulate. You will return to find that the inside of your tent is the perfect temperature. Where were you last weekend? Over the weekend, we had a fabulous 2 days of mountain biking and camping at one of our favorite spots to ride, Boggs Mountain. We had huge group of different levels and awesome personalities! Shannon wins the award for most burley and Saki for most improved! Thanks to Chris for leading the charge and Ben and Richard for the hearty meals and the occasional first aid application. We hope to see you all again in September when will will tackle the Game trail once again! Great photos Chris! On Sunday, DJ, Steve, Annie, Sheryl, Ram, and Barbara joined Heather for beautiful hike in Monte Bello. We started out by hiking along Steven's Creek, which runs along the San Andrea's fault, checking out the numerous California Newt's hanging out in the creek. We climbed up to the summit of Black Mountain, where we were treated to sweeping views of the surrounding hillsides. Along the way, Steve shared a wealth of knowledge about the edible and aromatic plants in the area. Special thanks to DJ for all of the great photos! Trivia Contest- Sponsored by Lombardi Sports!
